The Atlanta Braves look to sweep the New York Mets Sunday afternoon in game three of their series.
The New York Mets have lost three of their last four games and a lot of it has to do with an offense that can’t produce. The Mets have scored three or less runs in four of their first five games. David Wright and Travis d'Arnaud have combined for 12 hits, while Michael Cuddyer has nine strikeouts in 20 at bats. Pitching wise, the Mets have allowed 10 runs in this series. The New York Mets have enough young pitching to be a surprise this season in the NL East, but their offense must step its game up in order to consistently get in the win column. Bartolo Colon gets the ball, and he’s 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA and eight strikeouts this season. Colon is 4-2 with a 2.00 ERA and 31 strikeouts in his career against the Braves.

The Atlanta Braves are the biggest early surprise in the majors, as they’re off to a quick 5-0 start. The Braves are getting it done with their pitching that’s allowed just nine runs all season and just 11 hits in this series. Offensively, Freddie Freeman is the fifth player with at least five hits and Nick Markakis has four RBI. Andrelton Simmons and Christian Bethancourt have combined for six RBI. The Atlanta Braves are playing impressive ball right now, but it makes you wonder just how long it’s going to last considering they have a subpar team on paper. Alex Wood takes the hill, and he’s 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA and four strikeouts this season. Wood is 0-2 with a 4.10 ERA and 27 strikeouts in his career against the Mets.
The Mets are 10-4 in their last 14 games as a road underdog and 6-1 in Colons last 7 road starts. The Braves are 4-1 in their last 5 during game 3 of a series and 4-1 in Woods last 5 home starts. The under is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings.
I don't have much confidence in the Braves, but it's hard to bet against the way they're playing right now. Keep taking Atlanta until the money train stops moving.
