The Miami Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays conclude their weekend series at Marlins Park on Sunday.
The Tampa Bay Rays have yet to get a complete game overall from most areas but they did get their best performance on the mound in Saturday’s 2-0 victory at Miami. Starter Chris Archer was dominant with a walk and hit given up over seven scoreless innings with Kevin Jepsen and Brad Boxberger tossing an inning each to complete the gem. The offense didn’t do much but a lot of runs weren’t required with a six hit, three walk attack producing a Tim Beckham leaving the yard with Evan Longoria driving in Asdrubal Cabrera. Nathan Karns draws the starting assignment against the Miami Marlins in the final game of the series. Karns is coming off of a 6-5 loss to Baltimore where he gave up all six runs on five hits and four BB in 5.2 frames.

The Miami Marlins haven’t stood out at the plate or on the mound thus far in the early going. On Saturday the offense was nowhere to be found which squandered a superb performance on the mound from Jarred Cosart. Cosart allowed a run on three hits and issued three free passes with Mike Dunn following with a solo homerun served up which essentially put this game out of reach with the offense unable to generate anything. The bats mustered two hits and walked twice with Christian Yelich and Marcell Ozuna rapping a double and single respectively.Henderson Alvarez looks to earn his first win when he toes the rubber in game three of the series with Tampa Bay. Alvarez was a tough luck 2-1 loser to Atlanta in his first outing with both runs scored on six hits through seven innings.
The under is 6-1-1 in Tampa Bay’s last 8 interleague games with the over going 8-2-1 in the last 11 on grass while the Rays are 2-8 in their last 10 Sunday games. Miami are 19-7 in their last 26 interleague games and 3-8 in their last 11 home games with the under going 10-4 in the Marlins last 14 overall.
