The Atlanta Braves look to stay hot when division rival the Miami Marlins pay a visit on Monday.
The Miami Marlins were given a shot at making some noise in the National League East but in the early stages of 2015 things haven’t been going their way. The Marlins are coming off of an 8-5 defeat at the hands of visiting Tampa Bay where the pitching failed them. Starter Henderson Alvarez fell to 0-2 with four runs scored on seven hits over five frames with Brad Hand charged with three runs in three innings. The offense posted eight hits and walked twice with Jarrod Saltalamacchia connecting on a solo jack while Michael Morse doubled in two more and scored. Mat Latos gets his second start in the early going after struggling through his shortest career outing. Latos was hit hard in a 12-2 defeat to Atlanta with seven runs scored on six hits and a pair of walks in just 2/3 of an inning.

The Atlanta Braves are one of the hottest teams in the game through one week of the season as they currently are first in the National League East. The Braves almost pulled out another win Sunday before dropping a 4-3 decision to the New York Mets. Starter Alex Wood looked good through six frames with three runs given up on eight hits and a trio of free passes before Juan Jamie took the loss with a run scored in the 8th. The bats didn’t do a whole lot with only seven hits under their belt with Andrelton Simmons smacking a double and triple with two RBI’s while Jonny Gomes clubbed a solo homer. Shelby Miller gets the call to the mound for the second time when he faces Miami on Monday. Miller was a 2-0 winner over the Marlins in his first start where he allowed four hits and two BB in five frames.
The under is 8-1 in Miami’s last 9 games as an underdog while the Marlins are 1-7 in their last 8 overall and 7-1 in their last 8 Monday games. Atlanta are 7-1 in their last 8 overall and 7-1 in their last 8 on grass while going 3-10 in their last 13 as favorites. Head to head the under is 6-2-3 in the last 11 meetings while Miami are 24-50 in the last 74 meetings. I’m going with the hotter team but I know the Braves aren’t good and that makes the juice very tough to swallow…
