The Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays begin a four-game series Monday night.
The Tampa Bay Rays have won three of their last four and are coming off a series win over the Marlins. The Rays already have two shutouts in their last four games and are riding a wave of young talent early in the year. Offensively, Asdrubal Cabrera leads the Rays with eight hits and four RBI while David DeJesus has six RBI in just 11 at bats. Evan Longoria has five hits and has drawn five walks. The Tampa Bay Rays are playing some decent ball and should be a confident bunch after what they accomplished in South Florida. Jake Odorizzi takes the hill, and he’s 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and seven strikeouts this season. Odorizzi is 1-0 with a 2.37 ERA and 16 strikeouts in his career against the Blue Jays.

The Toronto Blue Jays have also won three of their last four and are coming off a series win over the Orioles. The Blue Jays have dropped 23 runs in their last three games and have won six straight when scoring at least four runs dating back to last season. Jose Reyes has 10 hits in 24 at bats while Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista have combined for nine RBI. Dalton Pompey has been a surprise with four RBI of his own. The Toronto Blue Jays could really use this series to make an early statement in the AL East. R.A. Dickey gets the ball, and he’s 0-0 with a 1.42 ERA and four strikeouts this season. Dickey is 6-5 with a 4.14 ERA and 81 strikeouts in his career against the Rays.
The Rays are 1-4 in their last 5 vs. American League East and 1-7 in Odorizzis last 8 starts as an underdog. The Blue Jays are 11-4 in their last 15 home games and 2-5 in Dickeys last 7 starts as a favorite. The over is 5-1 in Dickeys last 6 starts vs. Rays.
The Blue Jays have the much better offense and should be thrilled to finally play a game on their home turf. Add the fact Dickey is on the mound, and I like Toronto to get the job done here.
