The New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies square off in game two of their series Tuesday.
Even though the Philadelphia Phillies have a losing record they have played extremely well which is surprising to us fans. The Phillies gave the Mets all they could handle before falling at Citi Field 2-0 in the series opener on Monday where the offense never got going. In the process a strong performance from Aaron Harang who gave up a single run allowed on four hits and a pair of free passes to absorb the loss. The offense did threaten a few times with seven hits and two bases on balls with Freddy Galvis going 3-3 with Cody Asche going 2-4. David Buchanan makes his second appearance of the young season against the Mets on Tuesday. Buchanan struggled in his first outing in a 6-2 loss to the Red Sox with all six runs given up on seven hits and four BB in three frames.

The New York Mets are hoping for a winning record and to challenge in the National League East in 2015 although neither has happened in quite some time. The Mets sometimes struggle to get both their arms and bats on the same page and did so Monday but it didn’t matter with the work on the mound carrying the day. Right hander Jacob deGrom was at his best with a seven hit shutout through 6.1 frames to even their record at 1-1 with a trio of relievers finishing off the gem. The offense posted six hits and walked four times with Michael Cuddyer going 2-4 with a run while Travis d’Arnaud and Juan Lagares driving in runs. The Mets send ace Matt Harvey to the bump to take on the Phillies hoping he can match his first outing. Harvey was as good as ever with a three hit shutout over seven frames while striking out ten.
The Phillies are 3-8 in their last 11 road games with the under going 7-3 in Buchanan’s last 10 starts. The under is 6-2 in Harvey’s last 8 home starts and 5-2-1 in his last 8 on grass while going 5-2-1 in his last 8 starts overall. Head to head the over is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in New York and 47-17-4 in their last 68. I'm caustiously behind the Mets because of Harvey even though I'm not bi on run lines...
