The Milwaukee Brewers go for the sweep of their two game set with the St Louis Cardinals Wednesday.

The Milwaukee Brewers are trying to get in the same groove they were in to begin 2014 but that has not come about. The Brewers are hoping that Monday’s 5-4 victory at St Louis is the start of something good minus the two errors by Jean Segura. Matt Garza picked up the win with two runs allowed (one earned) on six hits and five BB over 5.2 frames. Jeremy Jeffress was charged with two more runs (one earned) in one inning. The Brew Crew posted eight hits and walked once with Carlos Gomez going 2-4 with an RBI an two runs scored with Scooter Gennett knocking in a run and scoring. Wily Peralta draws the starting assignment versus St Louis on Wednesday. Peralta failed to get a decision in 5-4 loss to Colorado in his first outing with the pen letting him down after allowing two runs over seven frames.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Milwaukee Brewers - 4/15/15 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The St Louis Cardinals are the odds on favorite to capture the National League Central although right now they aren’t getting the arms and bats on the same page. Defense cost them in game one against Milwaukee with Adam Wainwright allowing five runs (three earned) on eight hits through seven innings with a pair of errors by Kolten Wong hurting him. The Cardinals had plenty of opportunities on nine hits and six free passes with Jhonny Peralta leading the way with two hits and two runs knocked in. The Redbirds trailed 2-0 and 5-2 but poor defense and a lack of key hits equaled a loss. The Cardinals hand the ball to Lance Lynn for Wednesday’s start versus visiting Milwaukee. Lynn was a tough luck loser at Chicago 2-0 with both runs scored (one earned) on two hits over six frames while whiffing nine.

The under is 7-1 in Milwaukee’s last 8 games as an underdog and 9-1 in their last 11 road games while going 3-11 in the last 14 games as an underdog. The over is 7-3 in the Cardinals last 10 and 7-3 in their last 10 on grass while the Cardinals are 38-18 in their last 56 home games. Head to head the over is 12-5 in the last 17 meetings while the Brewers are 22-45 in the last 67 meetings. Both hurlers have done well in this match up so I don’t feel like laying the juice against a very capable Peralta and would back Milwaukee small or walk away…
