The Cleveland Indians and the Minnesota Twins begin a weekend series at Target Field on Friday.
The Cleveland Indians have been struggling on the mound this last week or so and the wins have been hard to come by. The Tribe snapped an ugly four game skid with a 4-2 victory versus the White Sox Wednesday behind the pitching of Trevor Bauer. Bauer upped his record to 2-0 with both runs allowed on four hits and four BB over six frames where he recorded eight strikeouts. The bats didn’t crush the ball on eight hits and a pair of walks but did see Lonnie Chisenhall go 2-4 with two RBI’s and a run while Michael Bourne had a pair of hits and an RBI. Corey Kluber looks for another quality start when he face Minnesota on the road Friday. Kluber did not receive a decision in a 9-6 loss to Detroit where he allowed two run on seven hits and struck out ten over 6.1 innings.

The Minnesota Twins don’t get a ton of respect but they have done what nobody else has done and that’s beat Kansas City…not once but twice. Of course sooner or later somebody else will beat the Royals but the Twins have bragging rights for at least a day. The Twins knocked off KC for the second time by an 8-5 count as the offense came up big and the pitching did just enough. Starter Tommy Milone did enough to get the win with three runs scored on seven hits and a trio of free passes through 5.1 innings. The Twins offense was center stage with 14 hits and a pair free passes with Joe Mauer driving in three runs while Kennys Vargas and Kurt Suzuki cracking their first homers and driving in two runs each with Shane Robinson scoring twice. Veteran Mike Pelfrey makes his second start of the season against the visiting Cleveland Indians. Pelfrey received a ND in a 5-4 defeat at the White Sox where he allowed four runs on seven hits including a pair of homers in five frames.
The under is 7-3 in Cleveland’s last 10 road games and is 10-1 in Kluber’s last 11 road starts while the over has gone 16-7 in the Indians last 23 Friday games. The over is 10-1 in Minnesota’s last 11 Friday games and 20-5-1 in their last 26 home games while the Twins are 2-7 in their last 9 overall. Head to head Cleveland are 11-4 in the last 15 meetings in Minnesota. Sometimes Pelfrey will throw that gem that makes you scratch your head and if he does then hats off to him…
