The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies face off on Saturday in game two of their MLB series of the top two teams in the NL West.
The Los Angeles Dodgers jumped out to an early lead on Friday and never looked back getting the win in game one on Friday. Hoiwie Kendrick had two hits including a home run, Adrian Gonzalez had three hits, and Carl Crawford and Jimmy Rollins were among those getting hits as the Dodgers scored seven runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw allowed six hits and three runs, one earned, while striking out 12 over 6.0 innings to get the win and raise his record to 1-1 this season. For Saturday’s game the Dodgers start Zack Greinke who has allowed seven hits and a run while striking out 11 over 13 innings for a 1-0 record and a 0.69 ERA.

The Colorado Rockies entered Friday’s game with the Dodgers in first place in the NL West and with the loss they dropped into a tie for first. Troy Tulowitzki and Charlie Blackmon each hit home runs and Wilin Roasario had two hits as the Rockies scored three runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Kyle Kendrick allowed seven hits and six runs while striking out six over 4.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 1-2 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Rockies start Jordan Lyles who has allowed 10 hits and three earned runs while striking out five over 12 innings for a 1-0 record and a 2.25 ERA.
Los Angeles is 5-0 in their last five games, 18-6 at home against a right-handed starter, and 7-1 in Greinke’s last eight starts. Colorado is 5-2 in game three of a series, 21-52 following a loss, and 2-6 in Lyles’ last eight starts. Colorado has lost seven in a row in Los Angeles.
The Dodgers are a big favorite and while I don’t love the odds, I do like for them to get the win.
