The New York Yankees face AL East foe the Tampa Bay Rays in game two of their series.
The New York Yankees are hoping to string a few wins together and make some noise in the American League East. They took a step towards that goal with a come from behind 5-4 victory at Tampa Bay on Friday where they received just enough from both the arms and bats. Starter Adam Warren giving up all four runs on six hits including two bombs over four frames before four relievers kept the Rays off the board. The Yanks posted five hits and walked six times with Alex Rodriguez cracking a pair of homers and driving in four runs while Stephen Drew clubbed a solo jack.Masahiro Tanaka is hoping he has all the kinks worked out when he takes the bump at Tropicana Field. Tanaka is coming off of a 14-4 rout of the Red Sox where he allowed all four runs (three earned) on four hits and a trio of BB in five frames.

The Tampa Bay Rays were hot and the goal is to avoid a slide and lose the momentum they were gaining. That goal was put on hold following Friday’s defeat at the hands of the visiting Yankees who did most of the damage against the Rays pen. Starter Nathan Karns gave up a pair of solo homerthrough five innings before Ernesto Frieri gave up two in the 6th to blow the save with Kevin Jepsen allowing the winner. The Tampa bats produced eight hits and three free passes with Allen Dykstra clubbing a three run homer with Logan Forsythe connecting on a solo blast to give TB a 4-2 lead. Tampa Bay is hoping that Jake Odorizzi can continue his torrid work on the mound when he takes on the Yankees on Saturday. Odorizzi has allowed one run on four hits over two outings covering 14.2 innings pitched.
The over is 7-1 in the Yankees last 8 overall and is 7-1 in the last 8 versus the AL East while the under is 8-2 in their last 10 on astroturf. Tampa Bay are 13-3 in their last 16 Saturday games while the under is 8-3-2 in the last 13 meetings with New York. I know Tanaka is having issues right now but I don’t know if it’s his health, mechanics or both so I’m cautious here…
