The Miami Marlins continue their series at Citizens Bank Park with another tilt with the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Miami Marlins have yet to get their scoring and pitching pointed in the same direction and as a result the team has been a non factor in the early going. The struggles continued in a 7-3 loss at Philadelphia on Tuesday. Starter Dan Haren was okay with four runs on four hits and a trio of base on balls with seven K’s over six innings. Mike Dunn came on and couldn’t hold the fort with three more runs given up in just one inning. The Marlins totaled ten hits with Giancarlo Stanton smacking his third homer with Dee Gordon and Ichiro Suzuki and Stanton posting two hits apiece. Jarred Cosart shoots for his first win when he battles the Philadelphia Phillies for the first time. Cosart struggled last time out in a 7-5 loss to the Mets with five runs plated on seven hits over 5.1 frames.

As a Philadelphia Phillies fan I can see the team struggling to string wins together and I know that won’t win the National League East. The Phillies will be looking for back to back victories after Tuesday’s win were every area contributed. Starter Jerome Williams improved to 1-1 with all three runs given up (two earned)on eight hits and a free pass through six innings pitched. The Phils offense made the most of seven hits and three walks with Ryan Howard and Freddy Galvis clubbed homers and drove in two runs each while Ben Revere tripled in two more and scored.Left hander Cole Hamels is charged with controlling the Marlins offense on Wednesday. In three outings Hamels has logged an 0-2 record with an ERA of five over 18 innings pitched.
Miami are 7-19 in their last 26 overall and are 7-19 in their last 26 games on grass while the under is 10-4-3 I the Marlins last 17 Wednesday games. Philadelphia are 1-7 in their last 8 overall and 1-7 in their last 8 games on grass. I don’t think I’m as confident in Hamels and the Phillies right now but if he is the ace he needs to win this…
