The Colorado Rockies and the San Diego Padres face off on Wednesday at Coors Field for game three of their series of AL West teams.
The Colorado Rockies got off to a hot start tot the season but they lost again on Tuesday making it five losses in a row. Nick Hundley had two hits including a home run and Troy Tulowitzki and Charlie Blackmon had hits as the Rockies scored six runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Tyler Matzek allowed four hits and tow runs while striking out three but walking six over 5.0 innings to not factor in the decision as Boone Logan took the loss. For Wednesday’s game the Rockies start Kyle Kendrick who has allowed 22 hits and 14 earned runs while striking out 15 over 16.2 innings for a 1-2 record and a 7.56 ERA.

The San Diego Padres have won their last three games including their second in a row in Colorado on Tuesday. Clint Barmes hit a home run, Wil Myers had three hits, and Derek Norris and Will Middlebrooks each had two hits as the Padres scored seven runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Brandon Morrow allowed sox hits and five earned runs while striking out three over 6.0 innings to not get a decision as Brandon Maurer got the win and Craig Kimbrel earned his third save. For Wednesday’s game the Rockies start James Shields who has allowed 14 hits and six earned runs while striking out 24 over 19 innings for a 2-0 record and a 2.84 ERA.
Colorado is 14-6 in their last 20 home games, 23-55 as an underdog, and 0-5 against the NL West. San Diego is 7-1 against the NL West, 5-2 in game three of a series, and 2-10 as a road favorite. San Diego si 2-5 in their last seven games in Colorado.
