The Milwaukee Brewers and the Cincinnati Reds face off on Thursday at Miller Park for game four of their MLB series of NL Central teams.
The Milwaukee Brewers are off to a miserable start to the season and we saw it once again on Wednesday as they fell to the Reds for the third time in as many games. Adam Lind, Aramis Ramirez, and Gerardo Parra each had hits as the Brewers scored one run on five hits. Starting pitcher Jimmy Nelson allowed three hits and a run while striking out five over 8.0 innings to not factor in the decision as Francisco Rodriguez took the loss. For Thursday’s game the Brewers start Kyle Lohse who has allowed 24 hits and 18 earned runs while striking out 10 over 15.2 innings for a 0-3 record and a 10.34 ERA.

The Cincinnati Reds got of to a slow start to the season but they have on Wednesday they won their third in a row over the Brewers. Joey Votto had two hits and Billy Hamilton and Brayan Pena each had hits as the Reds scored two runs on four hits. Starting pitcher Johnny Cueto allowed five hits and a run while striking out eight over 8.0 innings to get the win and raise his record to 1-2 for the season and Aroldis Chapman earned his fourth save. For Thursday’s game the Reds start Homer Bailey who allowed nine hits and five runs over 5.2 innings taking a loss in St. Louis.
Milwaukee is 7-21 as an underdog, 7-22 in game four of a series, and 1-4 in Lohse’s last five starts. Cincinnati is 25-9 in game four of a series, 4-1 in Thursday games, and 1-5 in Bailey’s last six starts. Milwaukee is 401 in Lohse’s last five starts against Cincinnati.
Lohse has been bad and the Brewers have been worse and until I see something positive rom them they are nearly impossible to play so my pick is the Reds.
