The San Francisco Giants travel to Coors Field to face NL West foe the Colorado Rockies in Friday action.
The Colorado Rockies have been in struggle mode lately and the trend was snapped for a day with a 2-1 victory over a hot San Diego club. Both teams received great starting pitching but the Rockies were a tad better in that department with Jordan Lyles giving up the lone run on six hits and a pair of BB over 6.2 frames with three relievers holding off the Padres. The offense posted eight hits and walked five times with Corey Dickerson slamming a solo homer and scoring twice with Daniel Descalso recording and RBI. Eddie Butler gets the call to the mound for his second start against San Francisco. Butler won that match up 2-0 with a five hit shutout over 5.1 innings although he walked six.

The defending world champion San Francisco Giants have not looked anything at all like champions in the early stages of 2015. With that said the Giants might be on the verge of turning things around after sweeping the hated Dodgers following Thursday’s 3-2, ten inning victory. A struggling Ryan Vogelsong was on his game here with three hits allowed through six frames with both runs scored on solo homeruns. Five relievers kept the Dodgers off the scoreboard while SF racked up ten hits and five walks. Brandon Belt and Brandon Crawford recording RBI’s with Justin Maxwell smacking a walkoff run scoring single in the 10th. San Francisco opens the series on the mound with Christopher Heston who faces the Rockies for the second time. Heston lost that outing by a 2-0 count with both runs allowed (one earned) on seven hits over seven frames.
San Francisco are 3-9 in their last 12 overall and 3-9 in their last 12 games on grass. Colorado are 3-8 in their last 11 Friday games with the over going 18-7-1 in their last 26 home games and the under is 10-4-2 in the Rockies last 16 Friday games. I’m hoping the sweep of the Dodgers provides some much needed momentum and it carries over to Friday…
