The Minnesota Twins open a weekend set at Safeco Field against the Seattle Mariners.
If the Minnesota Twins are going to make an impact in the American League Central then they need to get their offense and pitching on the same page more often then we have seen so far. The Twins are looking for back to back wins after shutting out Kansas City 3-0 on Wednesday. Starter Mike Pelfrey dominated the Royals over seven frames with five hits and a pair of free passes allowed with two relievers finishing the job. The offense posted ten hits and walked six times with four players recording two hits apiece. Minnesota charges Phil Hughes with the series opening start at Seattle/ Hughes is still looking for his first win after a 4-2 loss to Cleveland where he allowed all four runs on eight hits and a BB over 6.2 frames.

The Seattle Mariners are hoping to make some noise in the American League Central in 2015 but similar to Minnesota they need more from their arms and bats on a consistent basis. The Mariner have dropped seven of ten despite a 3-2 victory over visiting Houston on Wednesday. Lefty JA Happ came through with a big effort on the mound to up his record to 1-1 with both runs plated on eight hits over 7.1 innings. T Mariners received seven hits and a bases on balls at the plate with Mike Zunino cracking his second homer while Nelson Cruz and Brad Miller knocked in runs.Ace Felix Hernandez looks for a 3-0 start to the season when he matches up with Minnesota on Friday. Hernandez is coming off of a 3-1 victory versus the Rangers where he gave up the lone run on two hits and struck out 12 in seven innings.
The over is 10-2 in Minnesota’s last 12 Friday games while the Twins are 2-8 in their last ten overall and 19-39 in their last 58 Friday games. The over is 7-2 in Seattle’s last 9 Friday games and the under is 42-18-3 in their last 63 home games while the Mariners are 7-3 in their last10 Friday games. The under is 6-2 in Hernandez’s last 8 starts versus Minnesota. Hughes and Minnesota have been tough on Seattle and I think the Twins can hang but I’m likely sitting this out…
