The Detroit Tigers and the visiting Cleveland Indians butt heads in game two of their series at Comerica Park.
The Cleveland Indians did something they seldom do and that’s defeat the Detroit Tigers on Friday to open their weekend set. The Tribe were in one of those zones where everything went their way in a 13-1 victory. Starter Danny Salazar was the benefactor of all the support but didn’t need it with a solo homer given up over seven frames while striking out eleven to improve to 2-0. A 15 hit, three walk explosion hogged the headlines with Brandon Moss leaving the yard twice and driving in seven with Lonnie Chisenhall homering and driving in two. Carlos Santana knocked in two and scored three time as all but one starter reached base. Trevor Bauer hopes to continue his hot pitching when he takes the ball at Detroit on Saturday. Bauer did not get a decision in a 4-3 loss to the White Sox with seven scoreless frames on four hits and seven K’s

The Detroit Tigers didn’t seem as if they would ever lose back to back games but they are in a mini slide right now and took one on the chin in Friday’s series opener. Starter Shane Greene struggled from the first pitch with eight runs given up on nine hits and a pair of bases on balls through four innings with Al Alburquerque giving up four more runs in two frames. The Tigers mustered eight hits and a trio of walks with Nick Castellanos providing all the offense with his second homerun of the season. Alfredo Simon goes for a 4-0 start in 2015 when he takes the hill against Cleveland. Simon is coming off a 2-1 victory versus the Yankees where he served up a solo homer with seven strikeouts over 7.1 innings.
The under is 8-1 in Cleveland’s last 9 road games and 11-4 in their last 15 Saturday games while the Indians are 2-8 in their last 10 games as an underdog. The over is 9-1 in Detroit’s last 10 Saturday games while the Tigers last 11 games as a favorite and 11-5 in their last 16 overall. The over is 16-5 in the last 21 meetings while Cleveland are 14-39 in the last 53 meetings in Detroit. This is more a bet on Bauer but I’m backing Bauer here and hop the Tribe has some runs left…
