The Colorado Rockies travel to Chase Field to battle NL West foe the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The goal for the Colorado Rockies is to continue playing winning baseball over a full 162 game schedule which they have not been able to accomplish for some time. The Rockies have won three of four after getting rained out Sunday but are coming off a 5-4 defeat at San Francisco on Sunday where the arms and bats came up just short. Jorge De La Hoya gave up two runs over five frames with Scott Long giving up two more with Brooks Brown allowing the winner in the 11th. The Rockies racked up 12 hits with Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez slamming solo homers. Left hander Tyler Matzek shoots for his second victory when he faces off with Arizona on Monday. Matzek did not get a decision in a 7-6 loss to San Diego with two runs allowed on four hits and six BB in five frames.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are in the same boat as their counterparts in that they need to win consistently enough to stay within striking distance of the top of the National League West. The Diamondbacks took a step back Sunday in an 8-0 defeat at the hands of visiting Pittsburgh. Neither the work on the mound or at the plate was competitive with starter Jeremy Hellickson charged with four runs on seven hits through 4.2 innings to fall to 1-3. Daniel Hudson gave up three more in the 8th which put the game out of reach. The Snakes offense struggled with only three hits but did walk seven times although nobody could drive in anybody. Chase Anderson looks for his first win of 2015 when he takes the bump against visiting Colorado. Anderson did not get a decision in a 7-1 loss to Texas where he allowed a run on three hits over seven innings.
Colorado are 12-42 in their last 54 road games and are 4-13 in their last 17 Mon. games while the under is 7-2 in Matzek’s last 9 on grass. The under is 6-2 in Arizona’s last 8 home games and are 9-20 in their last 29 Monday games while the over is 6-2-1 in Anderson’s last 9 home starts. The over is 8-3-1 in the last 12 meetings in Arizona and Colorado are 19-42 in the last 61 meetings in Arizona. This looks like a tossup so I’ll back Arizona and Anderson at home…
