The Boston Red Sox look to end their series with a win against the Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday.
The American League East looks wide open and the Toronto Blue Jays are right in the mix. The Blue Jays have their offense to thank in Tuesday’s 11-8 victory at Fenway Park. Starter Drew Hutchison wasn’t very good with six runs plated on nine hits and five bases on balls in just four frames for a no decision. It turned out that it didn’t matter with the Blue Jays launching a 17 hit, six walk attack with Jose Bautista going deep with three runs and two runs while Josh Donaldson homered with two RBI’s and three runs. Edwin Encarnacion drove in two more with Kevin Pillar and Devon Travis scored two runs apiece. Knuckleballer RA Dickey gets the ball Wednesday against the Red Sox needing to rebound from his poorest performance of the season. Dickey allowed eight runs on nine hits including two homers in a 12-3 loss at Tampa Bay.

The Boston Red Sox have some new faces which many think is enough to make them one of the favorites in the American League East. The Red Sox took one on the chin Tuesday with the bats unable to compensate for their struggles on the mound. Clay Buchholz struggled from his first pitch with five runs scored on six hits and a BB through 2.2 frames while four relievers were touched for six runs. The Red Sox pounded out 13 hits and walked seven times with Hanley Ramirez going deep and driving in two while Mookie Betts and David Ortiz also knocked in a pair of runs each. Rick Porcello is looking for consistency when he takes the mound at Boston on Wednesday. Porcello did not receive a decision in a 7-5 victory at Baltimore where he gave up four runs on six hits over six frames.
Toronto are 7-2 in their last 9 Wednesday games while the over is 6-2-1 in TOR last 9 road games with the Blue Jays going 8-20 in their last 28 games on grass. Boston are 1-8 in their last 9 Wednesday games while the over is 19-6-1 in their last 26 on grass and is 11-4 in BOS last 15 home games. Toronto are 8-3 in their last 11 meetings in Boston. I think Dickey might be showing his age but I’ll back him and probably just watch this…
