The Seattle Mariners finish off their road series with the Texas Rangers in Wednesday action.

The Seattle Mariners have made a few changes over the past few years in hopes of boosting their win total and make some noise in the American League West. I think the changes have been positive but I still see a need for more scoring which has always been an issue. It was Tuesday in a 2-1 victory at Texas although the work on the mound made scarce support work. Lefty JA Happ improved to 2-1 with the lone run plated on six hits and nine strikeouts over 6.2 frames with five relievers finishing the job. The M’s totaled seven hits and walked twice with Rickie Weeks going solo with Kyle Seager rapping an RBI single. The Mariners turn to Felix Hernandez on the mound who faces the Rangers for the second time. Hernandez beat Texas 3-1 in the first meeting with the lone run scored on two hits and 12 K’s in seven innings.

Texas Rangers vs. Seattle Mariners - 4/29/15 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers don’t appear to have the horses to consistently win in the American League West so when they get good pitching or do some scoring the game has to go in the win column. The Rangers got it done on the mound Tuesday but not at the plate with starter Ross Detwiler giving up both runs on five hits and two free passes through 5.1 innings which ended up as a losing record and dropped him to 0-3. The Rangers posted seven hits and walked once while striking out eleven times with Delino DeShields Jr. knocking in Jake Smolinski with the only run. Left hander Wandy Rodriguez makes his second start of the season when he goes against Seattle Wednesday. Rodriguez did not receive a decision in a 3-2 loss at the Angels with a run allowed on five hits in five frames.

The over is 11-3 in Seattle’s last 14 road games and  is 18-6-3 in their last 27 Wednesday games while the Mariners  are 4-9 in their last 13 road games. The under is 8-3 in the last 12 meetings in Texas and Seattle are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings. I’m going with the King but the Mariners offense doesn’t make this very comfortable…
