The Los Angeles Angels continue to alternate wins and loss as they beat the A’s in Oakland on Wednesday. Mike Trout had two hits including a home run, Johnny Giavotella had two hits, and Albert Pujols added a hit as the Angels scored six runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker allowed six hits and three runs while striking out three over 5.2 innings to not factor in the decision as Fernando Salas got the win and Huston Street earned his eighth save. For Thursday’s game the Angels start Garrett Richards who has allowed eight hits and five runs while striking out nine over 12.0 innings for a 1-1 record and a 3.75 ERA.
Oakland is 1-5 in their last six games, 6-22 as an underdog, and 5-1 in Chavez’s last six starts in game three of a series. Los Angeles is 1-4 in game three of a series, 45-18 against a team with a losing record, and 20-8 in Richards’ last 28 starts. Los Angeles is 10-4 in their last 14 games against Oakland.
