The Miami Marlins shoot for another win against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies in Saturday action.
The Philadelphia Phillies played well enough to win Friday but a blown lead and poor 9th inning did them in. Starter Jerome Williams gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks before Kenneth Giles lost it with a run plated in the 9th for a 4-3 defeat in a game the Phils led 3-1 at one point. The offense mustered five hits and walked three times with Chase Utley slamming a three run bomb in the 4th to erase a 1-0 deficit but the team would not score again with just five hits to their credit. The Phillies turn to ace left hander Cole Hamels to control the Marlins attack Saturday. Hamels has been outstanding in back to back outings with a single run allowed on nine hits and seven BB in 13 innings.

The Miami Marlins have been playing their best baseball as they try to make a run at the Mets in the National League East. Starter Tom Koehler almost gave this one away with a three run homer served up over five innings which gave him a no decision. Four relievers held the Phillies off the scoreboard to give the bats a chance to come back. The Fish had numerous opportunities on a 13 hit, four walk attack that saw four players score and four knock in runs with Marcell Azuna going 4-4 with a walkoff RBI double in the 9th. Dan Haren toes the rubber versus Philadelphia looking for consecutive victories. Haren is coming off of a 6-2 win against Washington where he gave up both runs on three hits and three BB over five frames.
Philadelphia are 5-17 in their last 22 road games and the over is 6-2-2 in their last 10 road games while the Phillies are 6-2 in their last 8 Saturday games. Miami are 7-1 in their last 8 overall and are 7-1 in their last 8 games on grass while the under is 9-2-1 in their last 12 Saturday games. The under is 11-2 in Hamel’s last 14 starts versus Miami while the Phillies are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in Miami. I’m a Phillies fan and if they are going to steal a game this might be it and I said might because they simply are not good…
