The Texas Rangers shoot for another win in the final game of their series at the Texas Rangers.
The Oakland Athletics aren’t the terrors they were the past few seasons and need to win games with both their arms and bats contributing. Only the bats were productive in Saturday’s 8-7 defeat in ten innings at Texas. Starter Drew Pomeranz allowed three runs on eight hits with four of the six relievers giving up runs. The A’s pounded out 12 hits and walked once with Josh Reddick leading the offense with a 3-5 night with a homer and four runs driven in while Billy Burns went 2-5- with a pair of runs scored. Ace Sonny Gray faces the Rangers for the second time in 2015. Gray is shooting for his third consecutive victory after a 6-2 win versus the Angels with both runs scored on six hits over eight innings.

The Texas Rangers received solid pitching and hitting but their defense left a lot to be desired in Saturday’s victory. Nicholas Martinez threw the ball well with just two of the five runs allowed being earned with four unearned runs scoring overall. Fortunately the Rangers offense came up huge with a 14 hit, five walk assault saving the day. Kyle Blanks and Shin-Soo Choo each slugged homers with three RBI’s and a pair of runs apiece while Elvis Andrus and Prince Fielder each scored twice. The Rangers give Sunday’s series ending start to Yovani Gallardo. Gallardo threw the ball well in a 3-1 loss to Seattle last time out with all three runs scored on three hits and a trio of BB in six frames.
Oakland are 2-7 in their last 9 games as a favorite and the over is 19-6-1 in OAK last 26 games as a favorite while the Athletics are 2-6 in their last 8 overall. The under is 33-16-3 in the Rangers last 52 Sunday games and Texas are 20-41 in their last 61 home games. It was a tough loss to swallow for Oakland Saturday so it’s time for Gray to step up…
