The Houston Astros shoot for back to back victories against the visiting Texas Rangers.

The Texas Rangers have their work cut out for them if they are to do something in the American League West. The Rangers ended the Astros two week hot streak behind great work on the mound and some late offense. Starter Ross Detwiler gave up a run in the first but nothing else with four hits allowed over seven frames but received a no decision. Texas mustered seven hits and walked twice with Robinson Chirinos and Jake Smolinski driving in runs in the 8th and 9th. Veteran left hander Wandy Rodriguez faces off with his former team on Tuesday night. Rodriguez dropped a 5-2 decision to Seattle in his last outing with four runs plated on five hits and five BB 4.1 frames.

Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers - 5/5/15 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Astros are the hottest team in the game despite seeing their ten game winning streak end at the hands of the Rangers on Monday. The Astros squandered a late lead which hasn’t happened in quite awhile but this was really a lack of offense although it’s tough to blame any area when the team hasn’t lost in weeks. Starter Dallas Keuchel was outstanding with a lone run allowed through eight innings while striking out eight. Chad Qualls gave up a run in the 9th to absorb the loss but the bottom line is four hits doesn’t usually win games. Evan Gattis doubled in Jose Altuve in the first but that was all she wrote. Houston hands the ball to Scott Feldman to keep the wins rolling in. Feldman has thrown three straight quality starts with a combined seven runs allowed on 19 hits over 19.2 innings pitched.

Houston  are 8-1 in their last 9 games as a favorite and the over is 8-2 in their last 10 overall while going 8-2 in their last 10 on grass. The under is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings while Texas are 2-7 in their last 9 meetings in Houston. Again the Astros are big chalk which I hate but they have the edge in my view….
