The Texas Rangers shoot for the sweep of the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park in AL West action.
The Texas Rangers are bringing up the rear in the American League West and are trying to remain pertinent in the early going. A match up with red hot Houston did not look appealing but somehow the Rangers have won back to back contests after a 7-1 victory on Tuesday night. Wandy Rodriguez got the win with a solo homer allowed over eight frames while whiffing eight. An eleven hit attack did plenty of damage with Kyle Blanks going solo with Carlos Peguero going deep and driving in two. Prince Fielder knocked in two more with eight players recording hits. The Rangers turn to Colby Lewis on the hill who is charged with securing the sweep at Houston. Lewis might be the man for the job if he can duplicate his last effort when he threw six scoreless innings.

The Houston Astros were the hottest team in the game without tasting defeat in two weeks before dropping consecutive contests at home to last place Texas. Neither the arms or bats were able to get the job done and the Astros are now facing the sweep at the hands of the lowly visitors. Starter Scoot Feldman was hit early and often with six runs plated on nine hits through just three innings pitched. The Stros offense couldn’t keep up the pace with just three hits and a walk to lean on with Luis Valbuena clubbing his 7th long ball of 2015 to break up the shutout. Samuel Deduno gets the starting assignment in the series finale’ against visiting Texas. Deduno did not get a decision in a 4-3 win against Seattle with a run plated on three hits and a pair of BB in four frames.
Texas are 3-8 in their last 11 overall and are 3-8 in their last 11 games on grass while the under is 16-3 in Lewis' last 19 Wednesday starts. The under is 6-1-1 in Houston’s last 8 Wedneday games while the Astros are 8-2 in their last 10 games as a favorite and the under is 7-2-1 in their last 10 home games. The under is 8-1 in the last 9 meetings while Texas are 3-7 in the last 10 meetings in Houston. I might be pressing the envelope by asking Texas to win three straight away from home but they have a pitching edge on paper…
