The Cleveland Indians shoot for a win at Kauffman Stadium Wednesday at the expense of the Kansas City Royals.
The Cleveland Indians have their share of talent but for whatever reason they don’t seem to be the same team we saw a season ago. The offense and pitching have been struggling to get on the same page thus far and that trend continued in Tuesday’s 5-3 defeat at Kauffman Stadium. Starter Danny Salazar struggled early before settling down but did allow four runs on five hits while striking out nine in seven frames to fall to 3-1. The bats never got going on three hits and two BB with Michael Brantley slugging a two run homer while Lonnie Chisenhall went solo. Carlos Carrasco looks to give the Indians a boost on the mound in Wednesday’s start at Kansas City. Carrasco is coming off of a 9-4 win against Toronto where he gave all four runs on six hits and three walks.

The Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers have been the class of the American League Central and are poised for a back and forth battle in 2015. The Royals picked up a game in the standings with Tuesday’s win that featured strong work on the mound and at the plate. Starter Jason Vargas served up a two run homer in the first but was outstanding the rest of the way with just two hits allowed through six innings to up his record to 3-1.The offense did not pound the ball with six hits and a base on balls but they had the bat of Eric Hosmer in the lineup. Hosmer connected on a three run jack and drove in four while Alex Gordon went 2-3 with an RBI and a pair of runs. Left hander Danny Duffy get Wednesday’s start against Cleveland hoping he can continue his strong pitching. In his last two outings Duffy has allowed one earned run on 13 hits and a trio of BB covering 12.1 frames.
The under is 9-2 in Cleveland’s last 11 Wednesday games and the over is 7-2 in their last 9 games as an underdog while the Indians are 3-7 in their last 10 overall. The over is 6-2-1 in Kansas City’s last 9 overall and is 6-2-1 in their last 9 on grass while the Royals are 17-6 in their last 23 home games. Both hurlers have done well in this match up but I’ll side with the team playing better…
