The Cleveland Indians welcome the Minnesota Twins to Progressive Field in Friday action.
The Minnesota Twins have enough pitching and hitting to be dangerous to any team but the question is whether this will hold true over a full season. The offense took center stage in Thursday’s 6-5 win versus visiting Oakland. Starter Ricky Nolasco needed the support with four runs plated on six hits and a walk in five frames to get the win and improve to 2-1. The offense totaled six hits and six bases on balls with Eduardo Escobar and Eddie Rosario driving in two runs apiece while six different players scored. Mike Pelfrey draws the starting assignment at Progressive Field to oppose Cleveland for the second time in 2015. Pelfrey is coming off his shortest outing of the year where he gave up two runs on five hits in 3.1 frames of a 13-3 win versus the White Sox.

The Cleveland Indians need to get their arms and bats on the same page more consistently or they will slowly become a non factor in the American League Central. Neither was strong enough in Thursday’s 7-4 loss at Kansas City as defending Cy Young award winner Corey Kluber fell to 0-5. Kluber was charged with five runs on seven hits with a pair of bases on balls through 5.2 innings. The bats produced four hits and walked six times with Carlos Santana going solo and scoring twice while David Murphy knocked in two runs. Cleveland looks for a bounce back from Trevor Bauer who opposes Minnesota for the first time this season. Bauer did not get a decision in a 10-7 win versus Toronto with six runs allowed on seven hits and three BB over 4.1 innings.
Minnesota are 4-9 in their last 13 road games and are 4-11 in Pelfrey’s last 15 road starts while the under is 7-3-2 in Pelfrey’s last 12 road starts. The thing about Pelfrey is he is always capable so going against him is betting he isn’t tossing a gem. I’m backing Cleveland but I’m luke warm…
