The San Francisco Giants and the Miami Marlins face off on Saturday for game three of their MLB series.
The San Francisco Giants dropped Thursday’s series opener against the Marlins but they bounced back on Friday winning easily. Casey McGehee hit a home run, Brandon Belt had four hits, and Buster Posey and Justin Maxwell each had two hits as the Giants scored six runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Tim Lincecum allowed three hits and struck out eight over 6.0 scoreless innings to get the win to raise his record to 3-2 and Yusmeiro Petit earned the save. For Saturday’s game the Giants start Madison Bumgarner who has allowed 35 hits and 13 earned runs while striking out 32 over 38.2 innings for a 3-1 record and a 3.03 ERA.

The Miami Marlins never got the offense going on Friday and were never really in the gsame taking the loss. Marcell Ozuna had two hits, Adeiny Hechavarria had a hit, and Michael Morse reached twice via walk as the Marlins didn’t score on three hits. Starting pitcher Jarred Cosart allowed six hits and four runs while striking out two to take the loss and fall to 1-3 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Marlins start David Phelps who has allowed 21 hits and nine earned runs while striking out 16 over 15 innings for a 1-0 record and a 3.24 ERA.
San Francisco is 9-2 in their last 10 home games, 5-12 against a right-handed starter, and 6-2 in Bumgarner’s last eight starts as a home favorite. Miami is 4-0 against a left-handed starter, 11-5 in their last 16 games, and 2-6 in Saturday games. Miami is 13-4 in their last 17 games in San Francisco.
Both of these teams started slow and have been improving but I have to go with Bumgarner to get it done at home for the Giants.
