The Milwaukee Brewers look for a rare series win when the Chicago Cubs take the field at Miller Park.
The Chicago Cubs are certainly improved by the looks of things although the season is still young and we’ll see if the improvement is long term. The Cubs took one on the chin Saturday in a 12-4 loss to struggling Milwaukee where the pitching and hitting were not strong. Starter Travis Wood was hit hard with six runs (four earned) over four frames while the bullpen was charged with six more runs. The Cubbies managed eight hits and a base on balls with Kris Bryant swinging the big bat with a three run homer. Kyle Hendricks will be on the bump looking to secure the series win at Milwaukee. Hendricks has had problems in his last three outings where he has allowed nine runs in 15.1 innings on 16 hits.

The Milwaukee Brewers are one of the bigger disappointments of the season so far. Nothing that winning won’t fix but they really need a lot of wins to get back in the National League Central race. The Brew Crew rode their bats and pen to a big win Saturday with starter Kyle Lohse allowing all four runs on seven hits in five innings to up his record to 2-4. The pen tossed four scoreless innings while the bats exploded for eleven hits and five walks. Jason Rogers smacked a three run bomb with Gerardo Parra going deep and driving in four while Jean Segura went solo. Khris Davis went 3-3 with three RBI’s as every starter reached base. The Brewers give the ball to Matt Garza in the final game of the series with the Cubs. Garza was very good in an 8-2 loss against the Dodgers with three runs plated on four hits and three BB over six frames.
The over is 20-7-2 in Chicago’s last 29 road games while the Cubs are 3-7 in their last 10 Sunday games and are 11-4 in Hendricks' last 15 starts. Milwaukee are 5-14 in their last 19 home games and are 18-43 in their last 61 overall while going 18-43 in their last 61 games on grass. Same story with me and the Cubs, I’ll put out a pick and avoid betting them…
