The Chicago White Sox and the Cincinnati Reds close out their three game series on Sunday after splitting a double header on Saturday.
The Chicago White Sox dropped game one of their Saturday double header with the Cincinnati Reds but they regrouped and got the win in game two. Avasail Garcia, Alexei Ramirez, and Gordon Beckham each hit home runs as the White Sox scored eight runs on 14 hits. Starting pitcher Carlos Rondon allowed four hits and two runs while striking out eight over 6.0 innings to get the win. For Sunday’s game the White Sox start John Danks who has allowed 32 hits and 17 earned runs while striking out 19 over 24.2 innings for a 1-3 record and a 6.20 ERA.

The Cincinnati Reds won the early game against the White Sox but they had few answers in game two on Saturday. Joey Votto had three hits and Billy Hamilton and Zack Cozart had hits as the Reds scored two runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Jason Marquis allowed 10 hits and five runs over 5.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 3-2 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Reds start Michael Lorenzen who has allowed 11 hits and four runs while striking out nine over 11 innings for a 1-1 record and a 3.27 ERA.
Chicago is 5-2 against a team with a winning record, 5-11 in Sunday games, and 4-11 in Danks’ last 15 starts. Cincinnati is 5-1 against the AL Central, 2-5 in game three of a series, and 0-4 in Sunday games. Cincinnati is 3-12 in the last 15 meetings of these two.
This game is really a coin flip and the odds reflect that but I will give a slight nod to the White Sox at home.
