The Philadelphia Phillies look to even their series with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night.
The Pittsburgh Pirates have yet to get hot and make a little bit of a run in the National League Central but perhaps they are about to. The Pirates defeated Philadelphia 4-3 for their third consecutive victory behind great pitching and a few timely hits. Starter Gerrit Cole gave up a pair of runs on six hits and two bases on balls over seven frames to up his record to 5-1. The Buccos posted seven hits and three walks with Starling Marte slugging a three run bomb with Gregory Polanco going 2-4 with two runs. Former Phillie AJ Burnett gets the call to the mound in game two of the series with Philadelphia. Burnett is looking for back to back wins after downing Cincinnati 7-2 where he allowed both runs on seven hits and two BB in seven frames.

The Philadelphia Phillies goal of climbing out of the National League East basement was put on hold for a day after a series opening loss to visiting Pittsburgh. The Phillie might have been one pitch away from a win as starter Jerome Williams gave up three runs on four hits and a pair of free passes with a three run homer served up which was the difference maker. Five relievers held the Pirates at bay but the offense came up a bit short. The Phils managed nine hits and a pair of walks with Grady Sizemore going 2-4 with two runs knocked in while Odubel Herrera hit his first homer in the bottom of the 9th. Sean O’Sullivan comes off the disabled list to face the Pirates for the first time. O’Sullivan has made two starts in 2015 with both coming against Washington where he has gone 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA in eleven innings.
The under is 6-1-2 in Pittsburgh’s last 9 road games and the Pirates are 4-10 in Burnett’s last 14 road starts. The over is 17-8-1 in the last 26 meetings. I actually am not too thrilled with Burnett in this spot but I am backing him although not betting this yet…
