The Cleveland Indians look to right the ship at Progressive Field when they face the St Louis Cardinals on Tuesday.
The St Louis Cardinals are the hottest team in the game and based on their record they are the best team as well. The Cardinals showed no signs of slowing down with an 8-3 victory at Cleveland. Both the arms and bats were productive with starter Lance Lynn coming up big with four hits and four walks allowed over six scoreless innings while striking out nine. The Redbirds totaled 13 hits and walked once with Matt Holliday leading the way with a homer and four RBI’s with Mark Reynolds knocking in two while Matt Carpenter scored twice. Veteran John Lackey draws the start against Cleveland on Tuesday afternoon. Lackey has been outstanding the past two times out with two runs given up on eleven hits and four BB over 13.2 frames.

The Cleveland Indians have not looked like the same team as a season ago and they need to stay afloat and hope Detroit and Kansas City don’t run away with the AL Central. Starter Carlos Carrasco did not help the cause with four runs plated on ten hits through 6.2 frames to drop his record to 4-3. The Cards put this out of reach against the Tribe bullpen with four more runs scored. The Indians had some chances on a nine hit four walk attack that saw Jason Kipnis go 3-4 with an RBI and a run with Michael Brantley going 2-4 with another run and RBI. Reigning Cy Young award winner Corey Kluber gets the call to the mound Wednesday afternoon. Kluber has struggled the last four trips to the bump with 19 19 runs allowed on 38 hits in 23 innings.
St Louis are 21-7 in their last 28 overall and are 21-7 in their last 28 games on grass while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games as an underdog. The over is 11-0 in Cleveland’s last 11 games as a favorite while the over is 9-0 in the Indians last 9 games as a home favorite and the over is 14-2 in CLE last 16 overall. The Cardinals are 4-10 in the last 14 meetings. This could be the game Kluber breaks out of his funk but I hope not…
