The Houston Astros continue their series with the Toronto Blue Jays at Minute Maid Park.

The Toronto Blue Jays obviously want to win the American League East but the first order of business is reaching .500 and beyond. The Blue Jays took a step back Thursday in a 6-4 defeat at Houston. Starter Drew Hutchison was outstanding with a pair of runs allowed on five hits while striking out nine but Aaron Loup was charged with four runs without recording an out. The offense managed seven hits and walked three times with Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion connecting on solo homers. RA Dickey is hoping his knuckleball is working when he opposes the Astros in the second game of their series. Dickey struggled last time out in a 6-3 loss to Boston with all six runs scored on seven hits and three BB in six frames.

The Houston Astros are grudgingly holding on to the top spot in the American League West and maintained their grip with Thursday’s series opening win against visiting Toronto. Starter Roberto Hernandez wasn’t at his best but the offense saved the day. Hernandez was charged with all four runs on six hits and a trio of bases on balls including a pair of bombs through 6.1 frames to pick up the win. The Stros did their damage on eight hits and six walks with Jonathan Villar going 1-3 with a walk, RBI and run while Jose Altuve posting a pair of hits with two runs. Dallas Keuchel is slated to take the mound against the dangerous Blue Jays on Friday. Keuchel is coming off of his worse outing of 2015 in a 6-5 win versus the Angels where he gave up four runs on eight hits in 6.2 innings.

Toronto are 3-13 in their last 16 Friday games while the over is 10-4-1 in their last 15 on grass and 5-2-1 in the Blue Jays last 8 games as an underdog. The under is 21-8 in Houston’s last 29 games as a favorite while Astros  are 17-7 in their last 24 overall and  17-7 in their last 24 games on grass. The Blue Jays are 2-8 in the last 10 meetings in Houston. Keuchel has been outstanding and Houston wins when he is on the hill so…
