The Texas Rangers and the Cleveland Indians face off on Saturday for game two of their MLB series.
The Texas Rangers were never able to hold the Cleveland bats down on Friday as they fell to the Indians in game one. Prince Fielder and Adrian Beltre each hit home runs and Kyle Blanks had two hits as the Rangers scored three runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Wandy Rodriguez allowed eight hits and five runs while striking out two over 4.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 1-2 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Rangers state Colby Lewis who has allowed 35 hits and 12 runs while striking out 34 over 45 innings for a 3-2 record and a 2.40 ERA.

The Cleveland Indians came out swinging the bats on Friday and they battered the Rangers to get the win. Brett Hayes hit a home run, Jason Kipnis had four hits, and Michael Brantley and Nick Swisher had three hits each as the Indians scored eight runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Bruce Chen allowed seven hits and three runs lasting just 2.1 innings as Ryan Webb got the win. For Saturday’s game the Indians start Danny Salazar who has allowed 24 hits and 12 runs while striking out 48 over 33 innings for a 4-1 record and a 3.27 ERA.
Texas is 17-37 in game two of a series, 4-13 in Saturday games, and 0-5 in Lewis’ last five starts against a team with a losing record. Cleveland is 2-4 in their last six road games, 6-1 against the AL West, and 5-0 in Salazar’s last six starts against a team with a losing record. Cleveland is 12-1 in their last 13 meetings with Texas.
This game looks to be pretty tight as both of these pitchers are inconsistent but both are capable of coming up with a big game and I look for the Indians to play with confidence and get the win.
