The St Louis Cardinals and losing haven’t been mentioned in the same sentence often so after Saturday’s defeat has the Redbirds looking at consecutive losses at home, it’s big news. Tyler Lyons gave up three runs on seven hits and walked two through 3.2 innings with three relievers shutting down the Tigers before Matt Belisle absorbed the loss in the 10th. The Cardinals totaled ten hits and walked four times with Matt Carpenter, Peter Bourjos and Jhonny Peralta accounting for the offense with solo homeruns. The Cardinals are hoping Lance Lynn is back on the winning side of the ledger when he opposes the Tigers. Lynn defeated Cleveland 8-3 last time out with four hits and four BB over six scoreless innings.
St Louis are 2-7 in their last 9 interleague home games and are 39-12 in their last 51 home games while going 13-4 in their last 17 Sunday games. Detroit are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in St. Louis and the over is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings. Could St Louis lose three in a row? Very possible if Lynn isn’t on his game…
