The Arizona Diamondbacks head to the Sunshine State to begin a series with the Miami Marlins.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are in need of some momentum and that only comes with winning games. There hasn’t been much momentum lately for the Diamondbacks who were swept away in Philadelphia following a 6-0 defeat on Sunday afternoon. Starter Josh Collmenter was saddled with the loss with four runs plated on six hits and a pair of BB over six frames with Randall Delgado giving up two runs. The Snakes had a few opportunities at the plate on eight hits and a trio of free passes with Yasmany Tomas and Aaron Hill both going 2-4 while Mark Trumbo was 1-3 with a walk. The Diamondbacks kick off their series with Rubby De La Rosa on the hill Monday. De La Rosa has seven starts under his belt and is 4-2 with a 4.50 ERA with seven homers allowed over 41 innings.

The Miami Marlins are getting further away from the top of the National League East with each passing day and that was true once again on Sunday in a 6-0 defeat at the hands of visiting Atlanta. Neither the bats or arms were strong starter Henderson Alvarez struggling in his first start off the disabled list with all six runs plated on nine hits and a pair of walks through 5.1 innings to fall to 0-3. The Marlins were limited to a pair of hits and a walk with Dee Gordon and Justin Bour logging singles as the Fish only had four baserunners. Miami hands the ball to veteran Dan Haren who opposes the Diamondbacks for the first time in 2015. Haren is coming off of his worse effort of the season in an 11-1 loss at the Dodgers where he allowed six runs on eleven hits in 4.1 frames.
Arizona are 17-40 in their last 57 road games and are 19-39 in their last 58 Monday games. The over is 20-8-2 in Miami’s last 30 overall and is 20-8-2 in their last 30 on grass. The under is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings. Neither team has been inspiring from a betting perspective but I think the Marlins have a slight edge…
