The Baltimore Orioles welcome the Seattle Mariners to Camden Yards to open a weekday series.
The Seattle Mariners shoot for back to back victories when they visit Baltimore on Tuesday night. The Mariners are coming off of a dominant 5-0 win versus the Red Sox where the arms and the bats were both productive. Starter James Paxton was at his best with five hits and a pair of free passes allowed over eight scoreless frames to even his record at 2-2. The offense did their damage on eight hits and three walks with Brad Miller going deep for the 5th time while Kyle Seager left the yard and knocked in two while scoring twice. The Mariners hand the ball to Taijuan Walker for his first career start against Baltimore. Walker looks to duplicate his last effort versus San Diego where he gave up a pair of runs on four hits and a walk in six frames.

The Baltimore Orioles have yet to display the form that propelled them to the top of the American League East a season ago. The Orioles are hoping Sunday’s 3-0 victory over the Angels was the beginning of a long run. The Birds received a great performance on the mound from Mike Wright who won his major league debut with a four hit shutout through 7.1 innings while recording six strikeouts. The bats didn’t crush the ball on seven hits and a base on balls but they didn’t need much. Adam Jones swung the big bat with a 2-4 day that produced two RBI’s and a run while Manny Machado was 1-3 with a walk and run. The Orioles send Miguel Gonzalez to the bump to face Seattle in the series opener Tuesday. Gonzalez defeated Toronto 6-1 last time out with an unearned run allowed on three hits and three BB in 7.2 innings.
The under is 8-3 in Seattle’s last 11 road games and the Mariners are 2-6 in Walker’s last 8 starts. Baltimore are 12-4 in their last 16 Tuesday games and 44-20 in their last 64 home games. The under is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings and Seattle are 3-9 in the last 12 meetings in Baltimore. The Orioles look very ordinary right now and the only reason to take them is we don’t know what we’ll see from Walker…
