The Colorado Rockies and the Philadelphia Phillies face off on Tuesday at Coors Field for game two of their MLB series.
The Colorado Rockies have been improving of late but they opened their home series with the Phillies on Monday with a loss. Carlos Gonzalez, Wilin Rosario, and D.J. LeMahieu each had two hits as the Rockies scored three runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Jordan Lyles allowed seven hits and four runs while striking out three over 6.0 innings to take the loss. For Tuesday’s game the Rockies start Chad Bettis who has allowed seven hits and four runs while striking out three over 5.0 innings getting a no decision in his first start of the year at the Dodgers.

The Philadelphia Phillies continue to grind it out as they beat the Rockies on Monday in Colorado. Ben Revere had three hits, Ryan Howard had two hits, and Chase Utley had a hit as the Phillies scored four runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Cole Hamels allowed six hits and a run while striking out seven over 7.1 innings to get the win and Jonathan Papelbon earned the save. For Tuesday’s game the Phillies start Aaron Harang who has allowed 42 hits and 12 earned runs while striking out 37 over 53.1 innings for a 4-3 record and a 2.02 ERA.
Colorado is 17-36 against the NL East, 1-7 as a home favorite, and 1-5 in Bettis’ last six starts. Philadelphia is 6-0 as an underdog, 8-21 in their last 29 road games, and 1-9 in game two of a series. Philadelphia is 37-15 in their last 52 meetings with Colorado.
I liked the Phillies on Monday and they were my Dog of the Day and I like them again here as a dog against a Rockies team that is just not very good.
