The New York Mets and the St Louis Cardinals continue their series at Citi Field in Tuesday night action.

The St Louis Cardinals haven’t been accustomed to losing in the early going of 2015 and I find myself getting surprised when they do lose. The Redbirds are suffering through their first slowdown of the season following a 2-1 defeat at Citi Field in 14 innings. Starter John Lackey gave up a lone run on three hits over seven frames to pick up a no decision. Seven relievers followed with Samuel Tuivailala taking the loss. The Cards produced nine hits and walked three times while whiffing 18 times with Jason Heyward knocking in Pete Kozma with the only run. The Cardinals are scheduled to send Michael Wacha to the mound at Citi Field Tuesday.  Wacha will be looking to stay unbeaten after knocking off Cleveland 2-1 with a run allowed over five frames.

New York Mets vs. St. Louis Cardinals - 5/19/15 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The New York Mets are locked in a battle with Washington for supremacy in the National League East and are just trying to hold their ground and hope the Nationals cool off. The Mets did their part by winning Monday’s marathon although a great performance from Matt Harvey went to waste when Jeurys Familia blew the save. Harvey tossed a six hit shutout and struck out nine through eight innings which went for naught. The offense produced ten hits and four walks with Lucas Duda knocking in a run with John Mayberry’s infield single driving in the winner in the bottom of the 14th. Jon Niese will be facing the St Louis Cardinals for the first time this season. Niese was charged with six runs (four earned) on six hits and a base on balls in 6.1 innings of a 6-5 defeat at Wrigley Field.

St Louis are 40-15 in their last 55 games as a favorite and are 22-9 in their last 31 overall while going  22-9 in their last 31 games on grass. The Mets  are 0-8 in their last 8 games as an underdog and the under is 6-1-1 in their last 8 home games while New York are 17-4 in their last 21 home games. The under is 10-1-1 in the last 12 meetings. This might be a game to watch instead of bet but I’ll throw the under out there…
