The Cincinnati Reds just didn’t get the bats going on Tuesday as they were shutout by the Royals. Starting pitcher Johnny Cueto allowed nine hits and three runs while striking out four over 7.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 3-4 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Reds start Jason Marquis who has allowed 50 hits and 28 runs while striking out 32 over 38 innings for a 3-3 record and a 6.63 ERA.
Kansas City is 5-1 against the AL Central, 19-8 in their last 27 interleague games, and 5-1 in Guthrie’s last six interleague starts. Cincinnati is 17-41 in their last 58 road games, 9-34 as a road underdog, and 1-8 in their last nine interleague games. Cincinnati is 1-6 in their last seven games against Kansas City.
With the total at 8.5 my free pick in this one has to be on the over as it just looks like a lot of scoring after the quiet night on Tuesday. My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
