The Miami Marlins hope to break in to the win column in the series finale’  versus the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are much the same as their counterparts in that they are not going anywhere fast. Having said that the Diamondbacks have won three in a row after downing Miami 6-2 on Wednesday night. Starter Chase Anderson carried a two hit shutout in to the 9th before giving up a run to even his record at 1-1. The bats did not waste the effort with eleven hits and three walks providing plenty of support. David Peralta went 2-4 with three RBI’s while AJ Pollock was 3-4 with four runsArchie Bradley makes his second start since getting hit in the head by a line drive. Bradley did not fare well in his return in a 7-5 loss at Philadelphia with four runs allowed on five hits and three BB in two frames.

Miami Marlins vs. Arizona Diamondbacks - 5/21/15 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Marlins are in an early season funk and that has them sitting in the National League East. The Marlins have been going in the wrong direction with five consecutive defeats after losing Wednesday. David Phelps fell to 2-1 on the year with four runs plated on five hits and three bases on balls through five innings. The offense continued to struggle on four hits and a walk with Justin Bour going 2-2 with the Marlins lone run in the bottom of the 9th. The Marlins turn to veteran Mat Latos to pitch the Fish to a much needed win against visiting Arizona. Latos struggled last time out in a 5-3 defeat to Atlanta with all five runs plated on eight hits in three innings.

Arizona are 16-35 in their last 51 road games. The Marlins are 18-38 in their last 56 Thursday games while the Diamondbacks are 11-5 in the last 16 meetings in Miami. I’m on the fence with Latos who always seems to have some injury bothering him. I’ll back him here but I’m not betting the offensively challenged Fish…
