The San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers face off on Thursday at AT&T Park as they close out their MLB series on National League West rivals.
The San Francisco Giants continued to cut into the Dodgers lead the NL West as they beat the Dodgers again on Wednesday. Buster Posey had three hits including a home run, Brandon Crawford had three hits, and Joe Panik had a hit as the Giants scored four runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Tim Lincecum allowed three hits and struck out four over 7.0 scoreless innings to get the win and go to 4-2 for the season. For Thursday’s game the Giants start Madison Bumgarner who has allowed 48 hits and 18 earned runs while striking out 46 over 50.2 innings for a 4-2 record and a 3.20 ERA.

The Los Angeles Dodgers offense was stymied on Wednesday as they fell to the Giants in San Francisco. Howie Kendrick had two hits and Joc Pederson and Yasmani Grandal each had hits as the Dodgers had six hits but didn’t score any runs. Starting pitcher Brett Anderson allowed six hits and three runs while striking out seven over 6.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-2 for the season. For Thursday’s game the Dodgers start Clayton Kershaw who has allowed 49 hits and 24 runs while striking out 66 over 51 innings for a 2-2 record and a 4.24 ERA.
San Francisco is 9-0 as a home underdog, 23-6 at home against a team with a losing road record, and 20-8 in Bumgarner’s last 28 starts. Los Angeles is 36-17 following a loss, 52-25 against the NL West, and 40-18 in Kershaw’s last 58 starts. Los Angeles is 2-7 in the last nine meetings with San Francisco.
