The Atlanta Braves need a win against the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday to keep pace in the NL East.
The Milwaukee Brewers are entering the danger zone in that they need to win games to avoid falling too far back in the National League Central. The Brewers took out some of their frustration out on Atlanta in an 11-0 rout Friday that was never close. Wily Peralta and Michael Blazek combined for a two hit shutout over seven frames and the bats did the rest. The Brew Crew pounded out 12 hits and walked eight times wit Ryan Braun going deep with four RBI’s and two runs with Khris Davis knocking in two more while Martin Maldonado scored twice. Mike Fiers shoots for his second win of 2014 at Turner Field in game two of their series. Fiers threw the ball well in a 3-2 win at Detroit with both runs plated on six hits covering 5.2 frames.

The Atlanta Braves suffered through a few slow weeks but have turned things around lately as winners in five of six. Make that five of seven after Friday’s pounding where not one thing went favorably. Starter Eric Stults was charged with seven runs on three hits and five walks in 3.2 frames while Trevor Cahill gave up three more runs in 1.1 innings. The Bravos were limited to just three hits and a pair of bases on balls with Cameron Maybin going 1-3 with a walk. Shelby Miller looks to keep piling up the wins when he opposes the Brewers for the first time in 2015. Miller is coming in off of his best start of the year with a complete game, two hit shutout of Miami.
Milwaukee are 10-26 in their last 36 road games and are 24-49 in their last 73 overall while going 24-49 in their last 73 games on grass. The over is 15-4-2 in Atlanta’s last 21 home games and the under is 7-1 in Miller’s last 8 starts overall while the Braves are 7-1 in Miller’s last 8 starts. Milwaukee are 3-13 in the last 16 meetings in Atlanta. Miller has been tough and although I don’t think he can maintain the pace I hope he does here…
