The Colorado Rockies and the San Francisco Giants face off on Sunday after splitting their double header on Saturday.
The Colorado Rockies dropped game one of Saturday’s twin bill with the Giants but they bounced back with a win in the nightcap. In game two Daniel Descalso hit a home run and Michael McKenry and Brandon Barnes each had two hits as the Rockies scored five runs nine hits. Starting pitcher David Hale allowed eight hits and three runs, two earned, over 6.2 innings to get the win and John Axofrd earned his sixth save. For Sunday’s game the Rockies start Chad Bettis who has allowed 15 hits and seven runs while striking out eight over 11 innings for a 0-0 record and a 5.73 ERA.

The San Francisco Giants pounded out 10 runs in game one on Saturday but were unable to even come close to that in the last game taking the loss. Gregor Blanco had two hits and Buster Posey and Norichika Aoki each had hits as the Giants scored three runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Yusmeiro Petit allowed seven hits and four runs while striking out two over 6.0 innings to take the loss. For Sunday’s game the Giants start Tim Hudson who has allowed 55 hits and 23 earned runs while striking out 25 over 51.2 innings for a 2-3 record and a 4.01 ERA.
Colorado is 8-22 in their last 30 games, 6-18 against the NL West, and 2-5 in Bettis last seven starts. San Francisco is 4-0 in their last four road games, 20-8 in their last 28 games, and 1-4 in Hudson’s last five starts as a favorite. San Francisco is 2-5 in their last seven games against Colorado.
The Giants are just the better team here and I look for them to leave Coors Field winners.
