The Arizona Diamondbacks let Tuesday’s game get away from them early and while they battled back they came up short and took the loss. Nick Ahmed hit a home run and A.J. Pollock and Yasmany Tomas each had two hit as the Diamondbacks scored four runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Archie Bradley allowed five hits and six runs while striking out three over 3.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-2 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Diamondbacks start Josh Collmenter who has allowed 64 hits and 30 earned runs while striking out 26 over 52 innings for a 3-5 record and a 5.19 ERA.
St. Louis is 42-12 in their last 54 home games, 40-16 in game three of a series, and 11-5 in Lynn’s last 16 starts as a favorite. Arizona is 6-2 in their last eight games as a road underdog, 6-21 in game three of a series, and 2-5 in Collmenter’s last seven starts against a team with a winning record. Arizona is 1-8 in the last nine meetings with St. Louis.
Collmenter hasn’t been playable so on the road against a first place team it doesn’t seem to be any different.
