The Chicago White Sox battle the Baltimore Orioles in game one of their doubleheader on Thursday.
The Chicago White Sox are in dire need of a prolonged hot streak to stay on the radar in the American League Central. The White Sox had dropped seven of eight before knocking off Toronto 5-3 on the road. Starter Jeff Samardzija was outstanding with an unearned run allowed on eight hits and a walk over seven frames which was good for a no decision. The offense racked up 14 hits with Jose Abreu going 3-5 with a pair of RBI’s and a run while Adam LaRoche, JB Shuck and Gordon Beckham each logging two hits and driving in runs. Left hander Chris Sale opens the DH on the mound at Camden Yards on Thursday. Sale has been strong the last three times out with six runs plated on 12 hits while striking out 28 over 24 innings.

The Baltimore Orioles are still trying to get their pitching and hitting pointed in the same direction which hasn’t happened very often thus far. The Orioles received just enough of both in a 5-4 victory against visiting Houston in the series rubber match on Wednesday. Starter Ubaldo Jimenez was hit up for all four runs on ten hits and a base on balls through seven innings pitched. The bats totaled ten hits and rode the long ball with Chris Davis slamming a pair of bombs and driving in three while Steve Pearce going solo. Rookie Tyler Wilson makes his first career start when he opposes the White Sox in game one of their twin bill. Wilson has appeared twice in relief with a run allowed on five hits over two innings.
The under is 7-2 in Chicago’s last 9 overall and the White Sox are 18-37 in their last 55 Thursday games. The under is 11-3 in Baltimore’s last 14 home games and the under is 16-5-2 in their last 23 overall while the Orioles are 47-22 in their last 69 home games. The under is 11-3-1 in the last 15 meetings and the White Sox are 2-7 in the last 9 meetings in Baltimore. We don’t know what Wilson is going to do so I lean to Sale here but I’m not 100% confident…
