The Seattle Mariners and the Cleveland Indians face off on Friday in Seattle for game two of their MLB series.
The Seattle Mariners have been hot of late but they cooled off a little on Thursday as they lost at home to the Indians. Dustin Ackley and Mike Zunino each hit home runs and Nelson Cruz had a hit as the Mariners scored three runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher James Paxton allowed eight hits and four runs, three earned, while striking out four over just 4.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 3-3 for the season. For Friday’s game the Mariners start Taijuan Walker who has allowed 56 hits and 35 earned runs while striking out 39 over 43 innings for a 1-5 record and a 7.33 ERA.

The Cleveland Indians gave their starting pitcher an early cushion and never looked back as they got the win on Thursday in Seattle. Brandon Moss hit a home run and Jason Kipnis and Michael Brantley each had two hits as the Indians scored five runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Corey Kluber allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out 13 over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 3-5 for the season and Cody Allen earned his 10th save. For Friday’s game the Indians start Trevor Bauer who has allowed 44 hits and 19 earned runs while striking out 55 over 56.2 innings for a 4-1 record and a 3.02 ERA.
Seattle is 4-0 in game two of a series, 4-1 in Friday games, and 1-4 in Walker’s last five starts as a favorite. Cleveland is 4-1 in game two of a series, 8-2 in their last 10 games, and 2-5 in Bauer’s last seven starts as an underdog. Cleveland is 3-7 in their last 10 games in Seattle.
Walker has been much better at home than o the road but Bauer has just been better and I look for him to lead the Indians to a win here.
