The Chicago Cubs are trying to chase down the Cardinals in the National League Central and can’t afford skids of any length. The Cubs rally from a 4-1 deficit went for naught Friday wit their pitching and defense shouldering the blame. Starter Jake Arrieta gave up four runs on eight hits including three homers through seven frames before Pedro Strop allowed three runs (one earned) in 1/3 of an inning to take the loss. The offense managed eight hits with Jorge Soler going deep and driving in a pair while Addison Russell connected on a solo shot. Tsuyoshi Wada makes just his third start of 2015 and first ever against Kansas City Saturday. Wada did not receive a decision in a 2-1 loss to Washington last rime out with a solo bomb allowed over 5.1 frames.
Kansas City are 9-3 in their last 12 interleague road games and are 8-3 in Ventura’s last 11 road starts while the Royals are 20-8 in Ventura’s last 28 starts. The under is 17-6-3 in in the Cubs last 26 home games and the over is 14-6-1 in their last 21 Saturday games while Chicago are 7-3 in their last 10 home games. Going with the better team which isn’t a bad way to go when it’s Kansas City…
