The Washington Nationals clash with the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park.
The Washington Nationals have taken over the top spot in the National League and now need some separation. That didn’t happen Friday in a 5-2 defeat at Cincinnati where Stephen Strasburg left with an unknown injury after one inning. Taylor Jordan gave up three runs on six hits over 4.2 frames to absorb the loss. The dangerous offense of the Nats mustered ten hits and walked five times with Ian Desmond and Wilson Ramos both went 2-5 and drove in runs. Lefty Gio Gonzalez will be looking to right the ship when he opposes the Reds for the first time in 2015. Gonzalez bounced back from a pair of poor efforts with a 4-1 win over Philadelphia with a run allowed on seven hits in 6.1 innings.

The Cincinnati Reds are likely at a make or break time of the season which means they need to begin winning now. After dropping nine of ten the Reds got in to the win column Friday to give the team something to build on. Starter Anthony DeSclafani gave up both runs on eight hits and a pair of free passes through six innings with four relievers finishing the job. Cincinnati racked up eleven hits and walked three times with Joey Votto and Todd Frazier clubbing homeruns.Cincinnati is slated to start rookie Raisel Iglesias to the mound against Washington Saturday. Iglesias is hoping to rebound from a 5-2 loss at Cleveland where he gave up two runs on four hits and a trio of BB over three frames.
Washington are 21-6 in their last 27 overall and are 21-6 in their last 27 games on grass while going 17-7 in their last 24 Saturday games. Cincinnati are 1-10 in their last 11 overall and are 1-10 in their last 11 games on grass while the Reds are 22-46 in their last 68 games as an underdog. If Gonzalez throws as capable I think the Nats bounce back…
