The Minnesota Twins visit Fenway Park on Monday to open a series with the Boston Red Sox.
The Minnesota Twins might be the biggest surprise of 2015 with nobody predicting they would be challenging in the American League Central. The Twins just won’t go away after a 6-5 win against visiting Toronto was their 9th in eleven contests. Starter Ricky Nolasco gave up two runs in an inning with JR Graham and Tim Stauffer giving up a combined three runs. The bats came to the rescue on a nine hit attack with Trevor Ploufffe going deep with a homer and two RBI’s while Torii Hunter and Joe Mauer knocked in two runs apiece. A resurgent Mike Pelfrey gets the ball in game one of their series with the Red Sox. Pelfrey knocked off Boston 2-1 with the lone run plated on five hits and a walk over seven frames.

The murmuring surrounding the Boston Red Sox is they are over rated and only time will tell if that’s true. The Red Sox lost a late lead at Texas in a 4-3 defeat for their 8th loss in eleven games. Starter Joe Kelly gave up two runs (one earned) on six hits before Koji Uehara was charged with a pair of unearned runs in the 8th to take the loss. The Red Sox racked up eleven hits and walked twice with Hanley Ramirez going 2-4 with an RBI and run while Xander Bogaerts was 3-4 and knocked in a run.The Red Sox send Clay Buchholz to the bump to oppose Minnesota for the second straight time. Buchholz took the 2-1 defeat at Target Field with both runs scored on seven hits over 7.1 innings.
Minnesota are 2-6 in their last 8 Monday games and are 20-7 in their last 27 overall while going 20-7 in their last 27 games on grass. The under is 7-2 in Boston’s last 9 home games and is 13-5-1 in their last 19 games as a favorite while going 20-8-1 in their last 29 overall. Minnesota are 7-15 in the last 22 meetings in Boston. I think Boston has a great shot at winning but for me I think it’s Minnesota or walk away…
