The Detroit Tigers look to make up some ground in the standings when they face the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday.

The Oakland Athletics have been slowly getting their act together as they try to regroup from a slow start to the 2015 campaign. The Athletics knocked off the Yankees 3-0 Sunday for their third win in four contests. Pitching dominated this one with Jesse Chavez tossing a seven hit shutout over eight frames to up his record to 2-5 despite a cool 2.11 ERA. The A’s mustered eight hits and walked once with Stephen Vogt supplying all the offense with a homer and three RBI’s while Billy Burns going 3-4 with a pair of runs. Kendall Graveman toes the rubber against the dangerous Tigers for the first time in his career. Graveman is coming in off of a 5-4 win versus the Yankees with three runs plated on seven hits over 5.2 innings.

Detroit Tigers vs. Oakland Athletics - 6/2/15 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Detroit find themselves third in the American League Central with neither the arms or bats getting on the same page. The Tigers were swept by the Angels following a 4-2 defeat on Sunday night for their 4th straight loss and number seven of ten. Even David Price couldn’t stop the bleeding with all four runs plated on eight hits and four bases on balls to fall to 4-2. The Tigers managed five hits and six walks with James McCann driving in a run with Miguel Cabrera and JD Martinez scoring. Right hander Alfredo Simon will get the call to the mound for his second career start against Oakland. Simon was at his best in a 6-2 win versus Houston with two unearned runs scored on four hits in seven frames.

Oakland are 3-9 in their last 12 road games and the over 8-3 in their last 11 games following a win while the Athletics  are 6-15 in their last 21 games on grass. The under is 13-3 in Detroit’s last 16 Tuesday games and is 5-2-1 in Simon’s last 8 on grass while going 5-2-1 in Simon’s last 8 starts overall. The over is 18-6-2 in the last 26 meetings in Detroit. I lean Detroit but no interest in betting it…
