Progressive Field and the Cleveland Indians play host to the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night.
The Baltimore Orioles are looking for a prolonged hot streak and become a challenger in the American League East as many had predicted. The Orioles had dropped five in a row before salvaging the final game of a four game set with Houston by a 3-2 count. Starter Wei-Yin Chen allowed both runs on five hits and two BB while whiffing nine in 6.1 frames for a no decision. The offense produced an eight hit, two walk attack that saw Adam Jones go 3-4 with a homer and two runs while Chris Davis and Steve Pearce knocked in runs. Chris Tillman will be looking for consistency when he toes the rubber at Cleveland Wednesday. Tillman was rocked 9-5 by Tampa Bay last time out with six runs scored on nine hits and a trio of BB in 4.2 innings.

The Cleveland Indians have been playing their best baseball of the season as they try to close in on .500 and become a factor in the American League Central. The Indians were ahead 6-2 versus Kansas City before the rain came in the 8th. Both the arms and bats contributed with starter Trevor Bauer giving up both runs on four hits and four free passes through 6.2 innings pitched. The Tribe mustered ten hits and walked three times with Brandon Moss leaving the yard and driving in two while David Murphy singled in two runs with Michael Brantley knocking in a run and scoring twice. The Indians turn to Shaun Marcum on the hill Friday for his 4th start of the season. Marcum defeated Seattle 4-3 on the road in his last outing with a pair of runs allowed on five hits and three walks in 5.1 frames.
Baltimore are 2-7 in their last 9 Friday games and are 5-16 in their last 21 road games while going 5-14 in their last 19 games as an underdog. Cleveland are 11-4 in their last 15 overall and are 11-4 in their last 15 games on grass while going 7-3 in their last 10 games as a favorite. I’m still waiting to see if the Orioles are ready to go on a run before I can back them…
